Timeline

    Memories & Milestones

In 2013, Wesley College celebrates 140 years of impact in the community and, most importantly, in the lives of students. Our theme for the year is “Memories and Milestones” which captures the historical events and the personal stories that resonate with us all—whether we were actually in attendance or simply seeing and hearing fond recollections. We hope you enjoy the timeline of memories and we have created.

Features

Sellitto Endowment

The Matthew C. Sellitto Foundation recently awarded a grant of $100,000 to Wesley College. The donation will be used as an endowed fund to provide support to underprivileged students from urban environments attending Wesley College.

Delaware’s Sandman

When Lyron Deputy AS ’99, MSN ’06, first entered Wesley in 1997, he never imagined he would end up where he is today: CEO of Delaware Sleep Disorder Centers, a sleep study provider that serves 5,000 patients annually. He credits his experiences at Wesley with providing the educational background and especially the courage he needed to take the huge step from staff nurse at a hospital to successful nurse entrepreneur.

Wesley College Trustees Honored

Two longtime Wesley College Board of Trustees were honored as they retired from service on May 10. Ann L. Burton (23 years) and Rev. Dr. James T. Seymour (14 years) were each named Trustee Emeritus for their dedication and commitment to the College.

Q & A With Cathy Nosel

Since developing an institutional strategic plan five years ago, Wesley College has remained committed to following through on initiatives that will help grow its resources and support. To that end the Office of Institutional Advancement has reorganized its team of professionals to better meet the challenges ahead. One of the changes includes Cathy Nosel’s new role as director of alumni relations and annual giving.

Having a Ball

Wesley Soccer Alumni gathered in record numbers on Saturday, March 23 at Fado Irish Pub & Restaurant in Philadelphia, Pa. Ed Muntz and Steve Clark, head coaches of the women’s and men’s soccer teams respectively, partnered with the Office of Alumni Relations to host the event. It allowed former players of both programs and their spouses or guests to come together and socialize, while recounting Wesley memories.

Nothing But Net

With the loss of Chris Douglas and Darrell Johnson to graduation and a slew of newcomers thrown into the fray, not many knew what to expect from the 2012–13 men’s basketball team. An impressive summer trip to Montreal changed all of that as the improvement of veteran players like David Langan, Eric Selby and Quincy Pettiford was quite evident. From there, the Wolverines knew they might have something special as returning All-CAC performer Paul Reynolds prepared for his senior season.
