James A. Leach, chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities, was the guest speaker at the Wesley College spring commencement on May 5.
The following list acknowledges total cash and tangible gifts received by Wesley College between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012. Extreme care has been given to the preparation of the report.
Membership in Wesley College’s Athletic Hall of Fame expanded from 96 to 110 when 14 newly-elected members were inducted in a ceremony on Friday, October 12 at the Schwartz Center for the Arts.

To be on a campus these days is to witness a college more integrated than most in this country: nationally, 14 percent of college students are African American; Wesley’s minority population well exceeds that. That wasn’t always the case, as alumnae Gloria James ’73, the Reverend Charlotte Nichols ’73 and Peggi (Young) Watson ’73 well know.
Since 2005, Wesley College’s honors program has been a symbol for outstanding scholastic prowess and persistence, nurturing a group of students who excel amongst their peers in their academic accomplishments at Wesley. In seven years, enrollment has tripled in size. Incoming students must now be placed on a waiting list to join the program.
Wesley College won the Corporation of the Year Award during the Central Delaware Chamber of Commerce’s Excellence in Business Awards Dinner on June 28, 2012. The event also recognized excellence in small business, outstanding partnership and the Leadership Central Delaware Class of 2012.
Wesley College is offering two new majors for students to choose from for the 2012–13 academic year.
In March of 2012, Wesley College Director of Admissions Art Jacobs took his leave and retired after 22 years of dedicated work in the Admissions Office.
