For Lance Balder­son ’61 , the unex­pected high­light of his career hap­pened about three years ago when he received a let­ter from the Philadel­phia Museum of Art. Balder­son dis­missed it as just another solic­i­ta­tion from another museum seek­ing mem­ber­ship dues. But there was some­thing dif­fer­ent about this let­ter. Indeed, the world-renowned gallery wanted some­thing, but it wasn’t money. It wanted one of his works.

Wes­ley Col­lege Stu­dent Board of Gov­er­nors (SGA) Pres­i­dent Tan­ner Polce and SGA Vice Pres­i­dent Bryan Zarou present a $62,000 check to Wes­ley Col­lege Pres­i­dent Dr. William John­ston and Board of Trustees Chair Charles “Chip” Dashiell.

Dur­ing the Junior Col­lege Ath­letic Alumni Brunch at Home­com­ing Reunion Week­end this year on Oct. 8, for­mer coaches Bob Andrus and Jim Went­worth were both pre­sented with Life­time Wes­ley Soci­ety Awards which rec­og­nizes indi­vid­u­als and orga­ni­za­tions who believe in the mis­sion of Wes­ley College.

For the past cou­ple of years, Ben has been one of the first stu­dents I see in the morn­ing and one of last I see in the after­noon at my job as a sci­ence teacher at Dover High School. Though I haven’t had him as a stu­dent since ninth grade Hon­ors Biol­ogy, his big blue back­pack full of his base­ball equip­ment always sat in my class­room – until last October.

In a cer­e­mony held on Oct. 7 at the Schwartz Cen­ter for the Arts in down­town Dover, Wes­ley Col­lege inducted 14 new mem­bers into the school’s Ath­letic Hall of Fame.

Both cross coun­try teams fin­ished ninth at the CAC Cham­pi­onships with the women get­ting edged by one point for eighth.
