On Jan. 7 members of the Wesley Society and their guests gathered for an evening of socializing, fine dining, and student interaction. During their annual reception and dinner at the Duncan Center, society members celebrated the second full year of the Wesley Society. Current Wesley College students played an integral part in the event. During the reception, guests were able to mingle and meet eight outstanding students who were selected to share their campus activities and scholastic accomplishments outlined on posters. During the program, the 112 guests were treated to two riveting vocal performances by former student Julianne Morris, accompanied on piano by Wesley College’s Assistant Professor of Music, Dr. James Wilson.

The evening’s featured speakers were current student Wesley Dessesow ’13 followed by alumnus Linda S. Broyhill ’71. Dessesow shared that he chose Wesley College for its small size, which has given him opportunities to hold leadership positions on campus and to excel in his studies. Linda Broyhill, now a successful bankruptcy attorney with Reed Smith LLP in Virginia, expressed her gratitude to Wesley (Junior) College for making her “what she is today.”
